Treatments
We offer a variety of treatment depending on each patient’s individual needs:
How do I know if I need a root canal?
Root canals are needed for a cracked tooth from injury, a deep cavity, or issues from a previous filling. Patients generally need a root canal when they notice that their teeth are sensitive, particularly to hot and cold sensations.
These symptoms may be signs that you might need a root canal:Severe pain while chewing or biting
Pimples on the gums
A chipped/cracked tooth
Lingering sensitivity to hot or cold, even after the sensation has been removed
Swollen or tender gums
Deep decay or darkening of the gums
These symptoms may be signs that you might need a root canal:
How does a root treatment save your tooth?
The endodontist removes the inflamed or infected nerve, carefully cleans the inside of the root canal, then fills and seals the space. Afterward, you will return to your dentist, who will place a crown or other filling on the tooth to protect and restore it to full function. After the crown, the tooth continues to function like any other tooth.
What causes a tooth that already has a root canal to need additional treatment?
New trauma, decay, or a loose, cracked or broken filling can cause new infection in your tooth.
Is it better to have a root canal or extraction?
It is always better to maintain a healthy, natural smile whenever possible, and root canals allow for just that. Extracting and then replacing a tooth result in more treatments and procedures, and could even impact neighboring teeth and supporting gums.
Can I eat after a root canal?
Yes, you can but it might be advisable to wait 1-2 hours for the numbness to wear off so it will be more comfortable.
